Nearly 100 Children Killed in Aleppo in One Week

As world leaders wring their hands, sip refreshingly cool Evian bottled water, and sit around mahogany conference tables in places like Brussels and Geneva disussing what they should do about Syria, the children in Aleppo continue to pay the ultimate price.

In less than a week, nearly 100 children have been killed in Aleppo. Another 223 have been injured as anti-Assad militias fight pro-government forces backed by Russia.

If the world has the energy and capacity to sit down and figure out where the next Olympics will be held, one wonders why world leaders can’t sit down and figure out a way to put an end to this senseless slaughter. Where is the determination anywhere to put and end to this level of carnage and suffering?

Perhaps if the children dying in Aleppo were our own sons and daughters we might spend more time and attention figuring out how to end the slaughter.

In this week’s debate between Clinton and Trump the moderator, Lester Holt, never even mentioned Syria. He spent most of his time asking Trump questions on such grave matters as Obama’s birth certificate, his tax returns, and whether or not he thought Ms. Clinton had “a presidential look”?

While this beauty pageant wore on for an hour and a half, bombs continued to fall and explode on the children of Aleppo.
